Effie Kokrine Charter School (EKCS) is a community-focused school with a tight-knit family atmosphere. ECKS incorporates Alaska Native Cultural Values into the curriculum, programs and teaching methods. 

EKCS has a diverse campus with students and faculty from many backgrounds. The small class sizes ensure students receive individual instruction personalized to meet their education goals.   

The EKCS school year starts a week earlier than the rest of the school district to allow for a subsistence hunting break in September.

The students that choose to attend this school quickly become lifelong members of the EKCS family. At EKCS, we are a family.
